Life Changes, FW25, Must-See Exhibitions

Hi everyone!

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how change always seems to come in extremes. You either feel stuck in place, waiting for something to shift, or suddenly everything changes at once, and you barely have time to process it.

Ironically, I made a TikTok a few weeks ago sharing tips for navigating life changes. After nearly four years of transitioning careers and moving to London to study embroidery, I finally felt like I was putting down roots and moving forward. One of the things I said in that video? Change will always feel either super slow or super fast. And now, I’m having to take my own advice—because after months of feeling stuck, it feels like I’m going through a lot of new things in the blink of an eye. Some have been exciting - a new job! Some less so - like my phone unfortunately getting swiped (a London rite of passage).

Even though it’s a lot, I’m trying to embrace it. 2025 is clearly shaping up to be a year of new things, fresh starts, and unexpected turns. Over the next month, I’ll probably still be adjusting—but I appreciate you sticking with me through it all!

Trend I’m Loving: Colorful & Patterned Tights

Lately, my Pinterest feed has been covered in fun, colorful, patterned tights, and I’m so here for it. It’s the perfect blend of vintage and modern, adding a bit of interest to any outfit. It also got me thinking—would it be possible to embroider onto tights? Maybe some beading? If anyone has experimented with this, let me know, because I’m scheming a new project.

Dilara Findikoglu FW25: Venus from Chaos

Fashion Week is in full swing, and as always, there are a few standout shows that immediately grab my attention. One that I can’t stop thinking about is Dilara Findikoglu’s “Venus from Chaos. The way the collection blends historical references with a rebellious, avant-garde edge is so good. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the show:

Upcoming Exhibitions I’m Looking Forward To:

If you’re looking for some art inspiration in the next few weeks, here are a couple of exhibitions I’m excited to check out:

📍 Collect 2025 – Somerset House, London, 27th Feb - 02 Mar

This will be my third year attending, and I always find it worth the ticket price. It’s a treasure trove of contemporary craft and textile art—can’t wait to see what this year has in store.

📍 The Broderers' Exhibition 2025: The Art of Embroidery – Bankside Gallery, London, 25th Feb - 02 Mar

Several of my former classmates are showing work in this exhibition, and if it’s anything like the 2023 edition, it’s going to be amazing. If you love embroidery, this is one to add to your list.

Wrapping Up

I’m reminding myself that change, even when overwhelming, is usually a sign of growth. If you’re also in a season of transition—whether that’s a new job, city, or creative pursuit—I hope you’re giving yourself some love and patience in the process.

Thanks for reading! Until next time :)

All the best,
Grace
